PBParty 15: KINZIE'S KINVENTIONS - SPACED OUT, Chapter Book

Title: Kinzie's Kinventions - Spaced Out
Genre: Young Chapter Book
Word Count: 5,300

Query:

Dear Michelle and Sharon,

Her ninety seven - no, make that ninety eight! - ViewTube fans love Kinzie’s Kinventions. Flip Flop Mops make chores fun and Monster Stopinators keep scaries where they belong. But how do you solve problems like a wobbly bobbly headed baby brother or a know-it-all big sister? Lucky for her, Kinzie doesn’t have to invent anything for those problems because her sister tells her a secret. Kinzie’s from Jupiter and her space parents will return for her on her seventh birthday. That’s next week! She’ll blast off to Jupiter to live with her space parents. Problem solved, easy peasy. But when Kinzie discovers she’s been duped, she comes up with an out-of-this-world idea to get back at her sister.

Kinzie’s Kinventions – Spaced Out is a 5,300-word young chapter book with series potential that celebrates sibling rivalry with a sprinkle of science and a heaping dose of humor. Readers of the Junie B. Jones series will likely love Kinzie and all of her kooky Kinventions.

I joined SCBWI in 2005 and currently serve as Co-Regional Advisor for the Eastern PA chapter. My first published story, Ducktective Max Quacks and the Missing Farm Animals appeared in Highlights for Children in April 2009, and Night Owl Nabs the Sheep Snatcher followed in the July 2011 edition.  Both stories were later republished by People’s Education. In addition to writing for children, I co-own KidDilly.com, an online social network for parents.

I hope you’ll agree Kinzie is a fresh, new voice ready to soar in the chapter book market. I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for considering my work.

First 50 Words:

“Thanks for tuning in to Kinzie’s Kinventions!” I smiled. “If you hate chores, you’ll love my coolest Kinvention yet. Flip Flop Mops make chores fun!” I skated around on my mops. I was careful to stay in the little frame where my fans could see.
I had 97 fans already.
