Query:
Dear Michelle and Sharon,
Pink’s chair is a hard chair; much too uncomfortable for this spunky girl. But Pink’s chair can be anything – a fishing boat, a queen’s throne or even a ride through the sky. Even though Pink’s chair isn’t pink, the world becomes a little bit brighter when she sits there.
Like IN A BLUE ROOM and THE HELLO GOODBYE WINDOW, PINK’S CHAIR is a story about a place where one little girl’s senses come alive. Written for children ages 3 – 8, this imaginative story encourages kids’ creative sides.
On a big porch at an old camp many years ago, there was a chair called Pink’s Chair. And somewhere, buried among many VHS tapes, is a recording of a young man telling the story of a man named Pinkley who left his old chair behind. As many librarians and story tellers do, I’ve carried that memory with me and, with it, have written PINK’S CHAIR. I am a school librarian in Central New York, and a member of SCBWI. I can be found on a hot summer day, on the shores of Oneida Lake adding to my collection of lake things.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
First 50 Words:
Pink’s chair isn't pink. It's green, hard and uncomfortable. It has great big arms, a tall back and a nail that sticks out of the side. But, when I sit in Pink's chair, I can smell the water.
Pink’s chair hurts my bottom when my mother makes me sit there for time out.
